bold.

Bold Patterns {Moodboard}
dress | pants | skirt | shoes | handbag

Bold patterns have kinda been an obsession of mine lately. With this New Year and all the fashion resolutions, I think I'm going to attempt to make the addition of bold patterns to my closet one of them. I wear lots of solids and rarely ever sport a print of any kind, but this year it's time for a change.
I completely adore the patterns above. From the bold floral print to the Kate Spade Wink, I'm head-over-heels in love.

How often do you incorporate bold prints into your wardrobe?

black + white {friday's fancies}

This week's #FF theme is really fun: black + white. Ahh, the timeless classic color scheme. Billions of possibilities ran through my mind on what to make this board look like, but I finally settled on a sweet + flirty look that's perfect for parties or dinner outings. Take a peek:

Black + White
dress | coat | heels | bag | earrings | necklace

Basically, this black + white {and gold!} ensemble aims to portray chic + girly while remaining sophisticated + professional-looking. The pops of gold in the glittery heels and accessories tie this whole outfit together. Ahhh. I just love to look at it.

monday moodboard {no. 1}

Happy MLK Day! Hope you all are enjoying your day off.
I've decided to start a little something new on the blog - dedicating a day to sharing with you a few inspiring photos jumbled onto a neat little moodboard. Each week I am inspired with so much, and it would be a sin not share with you all! ;)
Here's what's been inspiring me lately:

Ahhh. Sparkly flats, bright sorbet, pretty chevron.
And my eye for organization is coming out in this arrangement too - big, chunky sweaters folded neatly and a wonderful arrangement of fashion magazines stacked way up high.
Oh, and lately, I've been really craving a tea length skirt...what do you think about mustard yellow? I'm wanting to go bold.
Also, don't you love the black + white prints? Good ole Twiggy and Marilyn.

Feeling inspired? Let me know what you think about the weekly moodboard-sharing idea for future posts!

mini mon amour.

Okay, there's no denying it. I'm head-over-heels in love with Louis Vuitton's MINI lookbook + video. If you haven't seen their "Small Is Beautiful" campaign yet, you need to - it's amazing! And what makes my heart smile is that this timeless French label solicited fashion bloggers such as Elin Kling, Miroslava Duma and Hanneli Mustaparta to model for this collection and convince us of the big impact small handbags can have. {Way to represent, ladies!}

I dare you not to be mesmerized by the photos below.

Now tell me you're not in love.

I love this great summary of MINI:
"As for the majority of the new handbag versions, the color palette is decidedly spring-oriented though bright and bold tones can work for adding a fab focal point in any season. The well known monogram is still present and if fairly recent offerings are to be taken as reference, such versions aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Handbags aside for a moment, the outfits are a great source of inspiration as a whole. Pairing simple yet high impact pieces in the right tones can instantly create the 'je ne sais quoi' vibe that made French fashion choices so covetable."

the princess' best.

Oh, Kate. She is just about the most poised, classy women alive, and everybody knows it. I admire her so much, and in honor of her 31st birthday on January 9th, I decided to dedicate a little post to her.
Kate Middleton is a style icon for women all around the world, and I thought I'd gather a few of my favorites that she has sported in 2012 and share them with you all. Take a look!

Don't you just love these? Ahh, she just makes me so happy. How could you not love her? Her classy, elegant style and sweet personality would put a smile on anyone's face.

Happy Birthday, pretty princess!

emerald city {friday's fancies}

Whenever I hear the words, "emerald city," my mind instantly travels to sitting a big, beautiful theater taking in the magnificent voices of my Broadway favorite, Wicked. So, as you can imagine, I'm super excited about this week's theme. Emerald green is Pantone's color-of-the-year, and I'm actually really excited about it! I hardly own any green in my closet, so this new year will give me a chance to branch out and go green! Literally!
Anywho, enough of my rambling. Check out the board for this week!

Emerald City
dress | blazer | pumps | clutch | earrings

As you can see by the past few outfits I've put together for #FF, I'm growing more and more fond of blazers lately. This is a super classy look that has a bit of a vintage feel to it. You would definitely make a statement by sporting this to your next dinner or party!

Are you willing to incorporate emerald green into your wardrobe?

kate obsessed.

I've always been a Kate Spade fan, but lately I've been getting really obsessed. They've announced loads and loads of new arrivals, and I'm getting so excited! To express my excitement, I've put together a little collage of my favorites - whether new releases or the classics! Take a look:

Kate Spade - The Classics

The above items are all ones that have been my favorites since they've hit the stores, I simply adore them. From the fun, poppy arm candy, watch, and handbag to the simple, subtle flats and bag. It doesn't get any better than classic Kate!

Kate Spade - New Releases

I'm obsessing over these new releases. I just love the color scheme of bold sea tones and simple patterns. The bottom right bag features their "pattern-of-the-month" - deco. So fun!

What are some of your Kate Spade favs?

new year, new you! {friday's fancies}

I'm really loving this week's #FF theme: creating an outfit that embodies our hopes or goals for 2013. It was hard for me to come to a conclusion on a theme that encircles all my goals for this year, but I finally decided on consistency. It's tough to stay consistent and unfluctuating throughout the year, but that is my ultimate goal. Consistency in relationships, habits, and overall lifestyle.
So...the best fashion theme that reflects consistency is monotone, at least that's the best I thought of. So this week's #FF outfit is uniform and monotone - totally consistent!

fashion resolutions.

Honestly, I haven't really made hardly any New Year's resolutions this year, other than the overall decision to aim for better-ness in every aspect of my life. Lately though, I've been thinking about some fashion resolutions. I've never really thought about resolutions in this aspect of my life, and I think it would be a great, fun way to improve my fashion habits of 2013! So I'm going for it. Whether it's spending less or buying locally more, I believe that making fashion resolutions is a habit we should all get into. Take a look at some of mine {and actually READ them! they might help you too!}. These are in a list from least important to most, in my book.

fashion resolutions

#1 - The practice of buying from small, local businesses is a great way to discover a unique aspect of your style that can't be found at popular consumers, and also a great way to support your community. This year I'm determined to seek out some talented designers in my area and see what they have to offer. I'm also all about shopping at fun, local boutiques here in Louisville! We've got plenty to spare.

#2 - My closet is insane. I've got so many clothes that I rarely/never wear, and I think a wardrobe renovation should be near the top of my to-do list. Here's a great excerpt of an article I was reading the other day: "No matter how many clothes you have, if you’re wardrobe isn’t functional, then getting dressed will often prove tiresome. Go through your wardrobe and look at the pieces on high rotation. Then workshop the rest of your wardrobe around these pieces."

#3 - Spending wisely isn’t about fully tightening the purse strings. It’s more about looking at where my money will go. Instead of investing in cheap, average quality pieces, why not think of buying a slightly more expensive, quality item? Those pieces will last longer and look better in the long run. I'm gonna try this new perspective for sure!

#4 - I have a major weakness of being really comfortable with what I know and have tried before, and never extending beyond those boundaries. This especially applies to fashion!  This year, I plan on trying a trend I would normally refuse, but to work it into my own personal style so I'm still comfortable with what I wear. This will be a tough (but fun) one!

#5 - "Shopping regularly" simply means being smart with how and when I shop. I know I've definitely fallen into the trap of frantically buying an ‘occasion’ outfit at the last minute. More often than not, this only gets worn once and is duly forgotten. If you take the time to shop, your wardrobe will be more thoughtfully edited and you’ll always want to wear what’s in it.

#6 - This is my most important goal. Concluding with a quote: "The most important thing with fashion, in my opinion, is to have fun. The minute you start taking it too seriously is when your own personal style takes a hit. Don’t be afraid to take risks, and if you make a fashion faux pas, at least you can always learn from it!"

Making fashion resolutions is just one way to define your New Year’s look and to take stock of your current wardrobe. A well thought out wardrobe is the key to always having something to wear.

Do you have any style resolutions for the New Year?

it's 2013.

Happy New Year! I can't believe it's 2013. Seriously. You all have given me a wonderful season of blogging in 2012, and I couldn't be more grateful! This year I'm determined to make at least a couple resolutions that I will stick with. Like spending more time with God, being the best daughter, sister, and friend that I possibly can, and starting a regular regimen of healthy eating + workouts {excluding dance!}.
I'm walking into this year with my favorite quote in mind:
"Keep your head, heels, and standards high!"

What are your New Year's resolutions?
